I would like it said that the church is a community of believers that worship Jesus Christ as their Lord, Savior and King and who are maturing in Him, who are blessed by practicing the sacraments, who nurture each other and who naturally, by the power of God within them draw men to Christ. I would like it said that the church is a place where people who don’t know God can learn more about who God is and what He has done for them, that the church is an instrument that reaches into the world through evangelism and mercy.
I would like to see churches partnering with other churches in a way that brings complete unity in Christ. While one church has a great youth program, another may not- let's learn and grow from our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. . I'd like to see leadership take a servant/learner position and get rid of pride in 'his' church and really make it HIS church! I enjoy reading your blog :)
Church for me is a safe place to go and feel no pressure and kind of let the stress of the week just roll off. A place to worship and fellowship with other believers. Where I can learned about the bible and where I get a different perspective on my problem or who to handle them. To serve other people and to feel comfort. It's a place where I can grow as a christian. I dont like fake in a church, I like real. The apperance dosent matter to me but the real part of people trying to make a true difference. In ourselves as christians and in the community. I like for a church not to just be a place I go on Sunday but a real community of people "doing life" together.
I love my church... Real people, Real stories, Real pain, Real happiness, real love, real mercy, real grace, real forgivenss.... Just real..and I love it.
Agree with Kelly! Churches should stick to the core missions of evangelism and discipleship, and stop competing with each other, or criticizing each other. We are called to be ONE body in Christ. Each church has it's own unique style or niche in the way it conducts ministry and meeting the needs of the people in it's community. But, there are also many ways that churches could and should be working jointly to minister to the masses. We, the church, are our own worst enemy! It's been shown in several recent surveys of non-churchgoers that it's not Jesus that people object to; in fact they are generally very receptive to Jesus... it's churches that turn them off. We need to percolate on that for a while and see if God is not telling us something!
Some churches are getting it right, but most are not. May we all do a better job as we go forward.
I'm hoping churches really know how to keep score...what's the main thing...when to admit it's not working...etc...
